Sinopsis
“UN’WE” means “JUST ONE” in Changana, a Bantu language spoken in several countries in southern Africa. Here, it refers to our current world, which has been reduced to just one thanks to social media but at the same time shows the differences that still prevail today. In fact, those differences instead of diminishing are increasing by leaps and bounds. Two worlds that are more and more distant from one another each and every day. Furthermore, they fail to understand that they depend on one another and that, in fact, they are one and the same.
UN’WE speaks of new forms of slavery, exploitation, exacerbated individualism, and absolute dependence on media so-called “social”.
Both characters we see in UN ‘WE feel that even though centuries have gone by, they are still in shackles. They know that the more they cycle in those chains, the more money they will earn to feed their families on the other side of the world. Cycling in circles till exhaustion to barely survive like hamsters on a huge never-ending wheel.
